Workshop! Start Your Play in a Day- Sat 22 October 2016, Derby Museum

We've spent our most recent meetings planning, rather than our usual process of reviewing and helping develop our members' scripts- this month, we're getting ready put those plans into action. Our aim is to write, develop and present a number of short plays created by our members over the coming months. There are a number of competitions and events aimed at short, fringe style plays across the country (and the rest of the world), so we're hosting a workshop to help us get started: We're really looking forward to welcoming John Goodrum of Rumpus Theatre to host our workshop, and really excited to see what story ideas we'll see beginning before we meet again in November. There are still a few places left, so if you're interested. email

If you can't make it, send us an email instead-

Review/features writing opportunity from DSW member Mike

It's great to hear when DSW members' passion for for film and TV pays off- here's a note from DSW member Mike, who's looking for feature contributors for the website he's just joined: Hello, I've just been appointed Movie Editor for brand new television show and website XO.TV. I am currently in need of talented writers to produce movie reviews and features for the site.  As a fledgling start-up, there will be no remuneration to begin with. That's the bad news. The good news is that those that produce superb copy will be in line for paid roles a little later down the line. If you are interested or know anyone that is, please email me at
